Bublr Bikes is opening a new bike share station next week located in Zillman Park (on the southwest corner of S. Kinnickinnic and E. Ward) in Bay View, with a launch news event at the new location set for Tuesday April 19, 2016 at 4 p.m. This will be one of the largest stations in the Bublr network with 22 stalls.
Alderman Tony Zielinski said, “I think it’s great to have more transportation options available for my constituents, and Bublr Bikes and this new enhancement for Bay View will certainly do that.”
“And the location (within the Business Improvement District #44 along S. Kinnickinnic Ave.) is a great one for Bublr as it is really a gateway to Bay View,” Alderman Zielinski said. The alderman noted that the station was fully, privately supported by Bay View’s newest apartment development, VUE. The VUE building is being constructed just south of the Bublr station and is being developed by Dermond Properties.
“I’m pleased that there was no government or taxpayer funding involved with creating this Bublr station,” Alderman Zielinski said.
Bay View residents and businesses are encouraged to attend Tuesday’s launch, and all attendees will be given a coupon for a free month of access on Bublr Bikes.
Bublr Bikes has 30 stations, and has plans to build more than 100 bike share stations in at least four municipalities by 2018. They plan to have no more than one half mile between stations, with plans to expand from central hubs into neighborhoods. The locations are based on recommendations from members of those communities.
