Common Council passes resolution requiring its approval before Police can buy military-grade gear

During the Milwaukee Common Council meeting on July 7, a resolution was adopted by all members that directs the Milwaukee Police Department to seek approval by the Common Council before any type of crowd-response, crowd-control, military-grade, and militaristic equipment can be purchased. Two Milwaukee workforce organizations join Midwest coalition to advance racial equity in manufacturing

Menomonee Valley Partners and WRTP/BIG STEP joined a new coalition that launched on June 24 by The Century Foundation (TCF), the Urban Manufacturing Alliance (UMA), and seven other urban workforce development organizations to develop training programs that forge a more racially inclusive future for manufacturing. Fred Kaems to paint children’s literacy mural in Milwaukee’s Washington Heights Neighborhood

Milwaukee’s Washington Heights Neighborhood will feature a new mural aimed at promoting both adult and children’s literacy, support neighborhood involvement and provide a connection to libraries. Milwaukee Art Museum begins phased reopening with expanded procedures for health safety

The Milwaukee Art Museum announced that it will reopen to the public on July 16, with free admission for all visitors for one month. Museum Members will have the opportunity to visit beginning one week earlier, on July 9. Thanks to a gift from the Krei Family in Memory of Melinda, Museum admission will be free through August 16 to welcome back the community, especially first responders and essential workers.
