An F-16 Fighting Falcon assigned to the Wisconsin Air National Guard’s 115th Fighter Wing at Truax Field Air National Guard Base in Madison crashed in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula at approximately 8:00 p.m. on December 8. The search for the pilot continues, and the pilot’s status remains unknown. Mayor Tom Barrett joined the City of Milwaukee Equal Rights Commission, Alderwoman JoCasta Zamarripa, and representatives from the Human Rights Campaign, Fair Wisconsin, FORGE and the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center on December 9 to announce that the City of Milwaukee received yet another perfect score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipality Equality Index. Imagine MKE announced on December 4 that it was accepting applications for arts and organizations to apply for a relief grant program funded by a Milwaukee County CARES Act allocation. The $700,000 grant program aims to assist the county’s arts and culture organizations that have been impacted by COVID-19, and would otherwise be forced to make undesirable decisions for financial reasons. The Pabst Brewing Company announced on December 1 that the Captain Pabst Pilot House, located in Milwaukee’s Brewery District, will close permanently in December. The news closes another chapter of the longstanding Pabst history with the brew city. Pabst returned its brewing to the city in 2017 after a two decade absence. The beer maker originally closed its Milwaukee operations in 1996, after a decline in sales and a consolidation in the brewing industry.
