Common Council reopens Aldermanic redistricting process with unanimous vote to sustain Mayor’s veto

The Milwaukee Common Council unanimously voted on December 14 to sustain Mayor Tom Barrett’s veto, regarding the Aldermanic map that the Council passed just three weeks ago. By sustaining the veto that blocked the previously approved redistricting map, Council members have until January 18 to revise the Aldermanic boundaries. Local Latinx leaders had voiced concerns about how the map would affect their future representation. Government of Mexico honors West Allis restaurant owners with 2021 Mexicanos Distinguidos Award

The Consulate of Mexico in Milwaukee announced on November 13 that Citlali Mendieta and Nicolás Ramos were selected for its 2021 Mexicanos Distinguidos Award. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Institute of Mexicans Abroad (IME), promotes the recognition of achievements by Mexicans who live and work abroad. Managed by Mexican Embassies and Consulates, the acknowledgement effort was designed to strengthen ties with the Mexican diaspora living around the world.
