Milwaukee Film to install 1925 Wurlitzer pipe organ as part of restoration for historic Oriental Theatre

Milwaukee Film recently secured a 1925 Wurlitzer pipe organ that will be installed during its ongoing restoration work at the Oriental Theatre. The Wurlitzer is a three-manual instrument, Style 260, Opus 1097 and was obtained through Jeff Weiler, a renowned expert in pipe organ restoration. According to Weiler, the organ’s rarity, size, and originality contribute to the instrument’s importance. Bud Selig and Aviva Kempner to highlight screening of film about baseball and espionage

Milwaukee Film will welcome Milwaukee Brewers Founder Allan H. “Bud” Selig to the Oriental Theatre for a special screening of “The Spy Behind Home Plate,” a documentary about enigmatic ballplayer Morris “Moe” Berg. Gateway mural by Emma Daisy Gertel will blossom in Westown this summer

Milwaukee Downtown BID #21 and the Downtown Placemaking Task Force have commissioned local artist Emma Daisy Gertel for the new Westown mural at the northeast corner of James Lovell Street and Wisconsin Avenue. Isaac Wells never knew his father, and his loving mother suffers from the debilitating affects of schizophrenia. That condition left him without a stable location to call home for periods of his youth. But Isaac graduated with honors on May 22 from Ronald Reagan High School.
