Three Naval Air Crewmen from Wisconsin part of rescue squadron credited with saving sailor at sea

Three of the four team members on the Guam-based “Island Knights” responded to a civilian in distress aboard a sailboat on June 24. The Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 25 was notified by the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam after the civilian utilized a satellite phone to request assistance. The Sailor was injured three days earlier while sailing through a severe thunderstorm aboard the 32 foot sailboat approximately 100 nautical miles west of Guam. Milwaukee moves forward with a pilot study for dockless electric scooters

Following Governor Evers signing into state law the authorization for local governments to regulate the rental and operation of dockless scooters, the City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works (DPW) launched a pilot study. Dockless scooter systems are privately operated and consist of self-service electric scooters made available to users on a short-term basis. Governor Tony Evers will visit Tokyo and Yokohama during Wisconsin’s trade mission to Japan

Governor Tony Evers will lead a trade mission to Japan from September 6 to 14 as part of the state’s efforts to expand exports by Wisconsin companies. This will be the first trade mission of the new administration. The trip will include visits to Tokyo, Yokohama and Chiba City. Milwaukee’s PrideFest and Pride Parade set new records in 2019 for public participation

PrideFest Milwaukee reported record-breaking attendance for the 2019 Milwaukee Pride festival, held June 6 to 9 at Henry W. Maier Festival Park in Milwaukee. This year’s total confirmed festival attendance was 45,787, an increase of +1% over the 2018 total of 45,400. The growth is especially significant, following this year’s cost-conscious decision to reduce Sunday hours and footprint in response to a three-year downtrend. The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and Airbnb announced a national partnership at LULAC’s 90th Annual Convention in Milwaukee on July 11. Because Hispanic residents in Milwaukee is the fastest growing ethnic population in Wisconsin, and the city will host next year’s 2020 DNC National Convention, the opportunity encourages the Latino community to offer their homes as guest lodgings.
