Governor Tony Evers participated in his first Midwest U.S.–Japan Association (MWJA) Conference in Tokyo on September 9, meeting with corporate leaders from Kikkoman, Komatsu, and Toyota to discuss their companies’ investments in Wisconsin. The Governor’s visit to Japan was his first international trade mission to meet with corporate and government leaders, highlight Japanese investments in Wisconsin businesses, and promote state exports. Milwaukee House of Correction receives bulk computer donation for inmate job training

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 494 (IBEW) / National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) announced the donation of 110 computers to the Milwaukee House of Correction on September 4. IBEW/NECA recently purchased the former ITT Technical Institute on Layton Avenue in Greenfield, and it operates as the second campus for the Milwaukee Electrical Joint Apprenticeship & Training Center (JATC). A new photography exhibition at the Milwaukee Art Museum showcases some of the people, movements, businesses, and neighborhoods that have helped make Milwaukee what is today. Health officials urge Milwaukee residents to immediately stop using all vaping products

The City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) issued a statement on August 28 urging area residents to stop using any vape and e-cigarette devices immediately. Severe pulmonary disease was discovered among teens and adults who reported vaping. As of August 28, 16 individuals have been hospitalized with severe chemical pneumonitis or chemical pneumonia, which is the inflammation of the lungs due to aspiration or inhalation of irritants. Another dozen cases are under investigation.
