Producer Jeffrey Seller and the Marcus Center announced that the musical Hamilton will play in Milwaukee as part of the 2019-2020 season.
Hamilton is the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary.
With book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, Hamilton is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B, and Broadway, Hamilton is the story of America then, as told by America now.
The creative team behind the production previously collaborated on the 2008 Tony Award Winning Best Musical “In the Heights.” The musical is produced by Jeffrey Seller, Sander Jacobs, Jill Furman and The Public Theater. The recording of the Broadway performance received a 2016 Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album.
Information regarding show dates have not been announced yet. The public is encourage to make the expensive commitment of buying season tickets for the next two years in order to have a chance at buying tickets to the show.
“The best way to guarantee tickets to Hamilton is to purchase a subscription for the 2018-2019 season. Subscribers who renew their subscription for the 2019-2020 season will be able to guarantee their seats for the premiere Milwaukee engagement of Hamilton before tickets become available to the general public,” stated the announcement from the Marcus Center For The Performing Arts.
