Flowers for Dreams, an online flower delivery startup specializing in locally crafted bouquets, recently announced their 2018 Charities of the Month program for Milwaukee.
As part of the company’s unique business model grounded in giving back to those in need, the charities selected will receive 25 percent of all profits netted from Flowers for Dreams’ 2018 flower sales.
The first charity to receive the special recognition as January Charity of the Month is PEARLS for Teen Girls, a unique leadership development program serving girls middle school through high school, and beyond, in Milwaukee.
The partnership comes at a time when, on January 20, organizers in Milwaukee and across the country will assemble for the Women’s March, with a mission to harness the political power of diverse women and their communities to create transformative social change. Flowers for Dreams will be in Milwaukee and Chicago to support the efforts of the March.
In addition to PEARLS for Teen Girls, the 2018 Charities of the Month are: AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin, Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, Teens Grow Greens, TRUE Skool, Broadscope Disability Services, Kathy’s House, Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, Milwaukee Public Library Foundation, Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee, Troop Café and Guest House of Milwaukee.
“It is our mission and one of our core business functions to support organizations who are bettering our community, and we’re eager to help these amazing local charities grow and achieve their goals in 2018,” said Lindsay Leinenkugel, Marketing Manager. “Since our successful launch in 2017 and with so many amazing nonprofits in Milwaukee, we look forward to making a difference with even more charities in the years to come.”
Receiving over 100 applications after their call for charities in October, the Flowers for Dreams team made their selections based on three criteria: mission, record of impact and marketing. The company typically supports organizations that take on local community challenges and solve issues related to health, education, diversity and the environment.
Flowers for Dreams has donated over $200,000 to charities in Chicago in the last five years. This is the first time Flowers for Dreams has included Milwaukee nonprofits in its Charity of the Month program since its launch in February 2017.
