Milwaukee leaders, residents, and community stakeholders gathered for a special groundbreaking event on April 4, to celebrate a day that had been envisioned for close to a decade. Led by Melissa Goins, Maures Development Group and J. Jeffers & Company will be redeveloping the old Garfield School into affordable apartments, and construct new a mix-use building that will be the new home for America’s Black Holocaust Museum in Bronzeville. The site will occupy most of the city block at North 4th Street and West North Avenue.
