This week, every City of Milwaukee household will be receiving a SafeVote postcard encouraging residents to vote safely from their home by requesting an absentee ballot by mail. The postcard will provide residents written and visual information on how to register to vote and request an absentee ballot, encouraging use of the myvote.wi.gov website. Light the Hoan initiative plans to install illumination on west side of bridge before summer ends

Before COVID-19 upended plans for 2020, the Democratic National Committee was scheduled to kick off in Milwaukee this week. Milwaukee-based Forward Latino joined with meat workers and allies nationwide to file a racial discrimination complaint on July 8 to challenge the harmful actions by meat processing corporations, alleging that their lack of COVID-19 protections have caused the needless suffering of workers. Common Council passes resolution requiring its approval before Police can buy military-grade gear

During the Milwaukee Common Council meeting on July 7, a resolution was adopted by all members that directs the Milwaukee Police Department to seek approval by the Common Council before any type of crowd-response, crowd-control, military-grade, and militaristic equipment can be purchased.
