MATC offers free tuition with launch of “Promise for Adults” program

The Milwaukee Area Technical College officially launched the “MATC Promise for Adults” on May 17, offering free tuition for eligible students to finish their associate degrees at MATC. The new program is an expansion of MATC’s first-in-the-state Promise program, which assists new high school graduates. New water taxi service starts on the Milwaukee River

Milwaukee will finally get a riverfront taxi service starting May 19, utilizing the waterways that were used as the city’s original transit network. Milwaukee’s Water Taxi service will start operation on the Milwaukee River and its connecting outlets. Water Taxi MKE will provide rides by boat from river bars, public docks, and apartments on the water. The Water Taxi MKE capacity is currently limited to six passengers at a time per Coast Guard regulations. The 70th anniversary commemoration of the Nakba, or “catastrophe” in Arabic, was held on May 14 at a Lakefront rally that brought together interfaith groups in Milwaukee seeking an end to Palestinian oppression, on a day that also saw Israel kiII dozens of civilians at Gaza dead. MSO releases animated walkthrough envisioning Warner Theater space

The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra (MSO) recently shared a series of animated renderings produced by Kahler Slater. The computer-generated visualization offered a tour of the new performance space at 212 W. Wisconsin Avenue. Built in 1930, the Warner Theater was acquired by MSO to be transformed into the future Milwaukee Symphony Center by the Fall of 2020. Teens Grow Greens officially added the Webers Greenhouses to its program when it opened on May 5, bringing a fully functioning greenhouse for community members to purchase plants, herbs, and vegetables, and as an experiential learning facility for Teens Grow Greens interns.
