Governor Tony Evers announced two new competitive grant programs on August 24 to help communities across Wisconsin rebound and recover from the coronavirus pandemic by providing $250 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to help communities build long-term, sustainable economic success. Food is Medicine: Accelerator program helps Dohmen Foundation provide life-saving home-delivered meals

Medically tailored meals will be delivered to thousands more food-insecure and chronically and critically ill people nationwide through the Food is Medicine Accelerator, a project providing technical assistance and training to nonprofit food agencies so that they can launch the life-saving health intervention in currently unserved or underserved communities. Transit system in Milwaukee County completes its redesign as final phase of “MCTS NEXT” takes effect

The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) is reminding passengers that the final phase of its MCTS NEXT system redesign takes effect Sunday, August 29, 2021 with improvements and adjustments to Routes 22, 28, 54, 55, 56, 60, 76, and BlueLine. $2M Federal grant to help community partnership provide Milwaukee families with trauma-informed care

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) recently awarded SaintA a $2 million grant that will help fund “Project Thrive” to provide increased access to evidence-based, trauma-informed assessment and treatment for children and families in the City of Milwaukee. The program also combined local efforts, through a partnership between SaintA, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee (BGCGM), and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Pandemic Relief: MATC to forgive $6.75M in tuition debt for students who attended the college during COVID

Milwaukee Area Technical College will automatically forgive $5.75 million of debt owed to the college by students who attended MATC during the pandemic, using federal COVID-19 relief dollars awarded the institution by U.S. Department of Education’s Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF III). Students who owe an outstanding balance to MATC for tuition and fees incurred from spring 2020 through spring of 2021 will have those debts forgiven by the college.
