Threads of Remembrance: Milwaukee hosts touring exhibit of the 9/11 Memorial Quilts

As part of a national tour, the 9/11 World Trade Center Memorial Quilt Project visited Milwaukee during the week leading up to Memorial Day. Hosted by the Milwaukee County Historical Society, the exhibit represented a time when people across America from diverse backgrounds came together for the purpose of paying tribute to the victims and heroes of 9/11. Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) hosted a special celebration at Victory Italian Immersion School on May 8, where its entire class of fifth-grade students had completed the EVERFI program sponsored by Educators Credit Union (ECU). EVERFI is a financial literacy tool that teaches students about saving money, planning for college, and protecting personal information. City presents plan for Vel Phillips Plaza as transit hub in underutilized urban space of Westown

The City of Milwaukee shared plans for a new vibrant urban space in the Westown neighborhood on May 14 designed to provide important civic amenities and needed transit connections in a portion of the city undergoing significant redevelopment.
