Mother-daughter duo paint swing bridge mural inspired by nearby river ecology

The Brady Area Foundation for Arts and Education (BAFAE), represented by the Brady Street Business Improvement District (BID #11), recently commissioned a new mural in the spirit of the city’s growing public art culture. Located under the iconic Holton Street Bridge across from the Swing Park, artist Stacey Williams-Ng was hired to produce a mural that would brighten the underpass. The 32nd Annual PrideFest Milwaukee officially kicks off on June 7 at the Henry W. Maier Festival Park, joining the National LGBTQ Pride Month celebration. Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett’s sixth annual summer health initiate launched on June 3 from the City Hall Rotunda for a one-mile walk that combined excise, community, and a photo op with the Bucks mascot, Bango. Incremental weather throughout the month of May delayed or slowed the weeks of effort by Sculpture Milwaukee to transform the city’s main thoroughfare of Wisconsin Avenue into a outdoor art showcase. Threads of Remembrance: Milwaukee hosts touring exhibit of the 9/11 Memorial Quilts

As part of a national tour, the 9/11 World Trade Center Memorial Quilt Project visited Milwaukee during the week leading up to Memorial Day. Hosted by the Milwaukee County Historical Society, the exhibit represented a time when people across America from diverse backgrounds came together for the purpose of paying tribute to the victims and heroes of 9/11.
