JoCasta Zamarripa, the newly elected Alderwoman of the 8th District, took her oath of office in-district on April 21 at the Mitchell Park Domes, and became one of five female members of the Milwaukee Common Council. The Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee issued a strongly worded joint-response on April 8 to attempts by State leaders to allow for in-person worship services during a highly contagious pandemic that is sweeping across Wisconsin. Despite state and federal health recommendations to stay home and avoid mass gatherings in public, thousands of Wisconsin voters waited hours in long lines outside overcrowded polling stations on April 7, to participate in the democratic process during a catastrophic pandemic.
