The Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce announced the launch of Milwaukee Veterans Week, a series of events and promotions from November 3rd through November 11th to highlight Milwaukee’s commitment to our military veterans and their family members. Milwaukee Veterans Week will highlight the contributions veterans make to our community, educate the public about issues important to veterans, and bring our community together to celebrate and honor the service of our military veterans. Milwaukee Veterans Week is sponsored by the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Military and Veterans Resource Center (MAVRC), Healing Warrior Hearts, and the Veterans Health Coalition.
“We are proud to come together with educational and community leaders to recognize the service of our community’s veterans, and highlight the contributions veterans make everyday through business ownership, workforce development, and community service,” said Saul Newton, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 51,000 veterans and 5,300 veteran-owned businesses call Milwaukee home- more than any other county in the state. Milwaukee Veterans Week will feature community events honoring the service of veterans and military families, as well as highlight veteran owned businesses and businesses offering promotions as part of the Veterans Day holiday. “Our goal for Milwaukee Veterans Week is to plan collaborative events with business and community partners, and offer opportunities for veterans to connect with one another as well as to come together and engage with community supporters,” said Jayne Holland, Assistant Director – Community Outreach for UW-Milwaukee’s Military & Veterans Resource Center (MAVRC).
“Milwaukee Veterans Week provides the public with a unique opportunity to learn more about what it means to be a veteran and thank with those who have served their country,” Newton concluded. “We are excited to offer this new resource to celebrate the service of military veterans.”
